Areas of Focus

Our firm focuses on issues faced by both individuals and businesses with property in San Luis Obispo County, such as:

When there is more than one owner of property, you do not have to continue to own the property together. A partition action is available if an amicable agreement to dissolve the joint ownership is not successful.
Rights to use another’s property are common, especially in rural areas. Unfortunately, lack of knowledge about easement rights can result in disputes with neighbors. We have handled hundreds of easement disputes.
Often problems arise during the purchase of real property. Housing of all types in San Luis Obispo is very expensive and that can elevate the stress involved in these transactions. We are experienced at assisting clients both complete their transaction and, where appropriate, cancel transactions. Our goal is to effectively communicate concerns and negotiate a resolution which is best for our client.

Even if you have a survey and know where your boundary is, what about situations where someone has historically used another person’s property? The law provides guidance about handling these situations, but each case is unique. It is important to have an attorney experienced in these situations to explain all the options available to you.
